Light into Darkness
This body of works explores ephemeral aesthetics, reflecting on the themes of imperfection, transience, loneliness, and the essence of being human. Each piece aims to capture different perceptions of human fragility through the juxtaposition of delicate, translucent elements made of porcelain and solid, almost metallic, terracotta.
Remember Me
While transiency, imperfection, and impermanence are universal aspects of the human experience, memory is our only shield against the passing of time and disappearance. Over time, memories evolve and change, along with the interpretations we construct around them. This piece captures this contrast between these two experiences through the porcelain cast of a leaf, freezing its ephemeral features in a composition that evokes the image of slowly melting ice.

Never Let Me Go
This piece tackles the themes of loneliness and the complexity of individual identity amidst a collective. While most tiles are dark and geometric, a few are white and irregularly leaf-shaped, with a focus on the single leaf in the center. This is a reminder that the unique inner world of a person may not be immediately visible to others: there is so much more than what meets the eye. At the same time, the asymmetry and distance between the group and the single is a recall to physical and emotional loneliness.

Behind the Cracks
This piece explores the imperfections we feel within ourselves and try to hide from the outside world—our weaknesses, our cracks. However, cracks are also where the light gets in. While we struggle to conceal and disguise them, our cracks are what make us unique and uniquely beautiful. This work takes the form of a conversation between two entities, reminding us that being human involves not only dealing with our own imperfection but also understanding and embracing the cracks of those we love and surround ourselves with.

What is Left
These three pieces are crafted from the leftover materials of the main works: discards obtained from thinning out tiles and slabs and from tests and experiments with porcelain. Although these compositions do not have a precise thematic aim beyond the visual contrast between porcelain and terracotta, their significance lies in their very existence. While pondering the meaning of life is profoundly human, sometimes there might be no meaning behind simply being. These pieces invite us to keep our minds free and open to possibilities.
